“Bottled Emotion” is a confessional where the viewer is instructed to take a deep breath and yell into an oxygen mask that is attached to the end of a blowpipe. Their breath and words inflate the molten glass and capture these inaudible thoughts. This performance exists now as video documentation of the event. This work exploits peoples secrets and frustration. The oxygen mask visually enforces medical authority, as if one could be purged. The performances are impassioned and seem almost like punk rock; it seems that the participants needed this outlet.
